Hot flashes
Emotions crashing
One minute, I’m on fire

Next, I want to hibernate under my covers
How could getting old be so cold on a summer night?
Leaving me fighting with night sweats on naked skin
Where can I find the reset button?
So I can begin again
Minus the pains that prepped me to fill this current position
Where I’m pressed by time, struggling to find a sweet medium
Between hot and cold, yes and no

Standing still, but not staying there for too long
Grinding teeth while I sleep
Leading  me to sensitive mornings
And daily yearning for internal peace
Dry skin patches on smooth skin
Hives and welts that stand firmly
Daring me to pop another pill
Zyrtec, Benadryl & Allegra are my new friends
That my body depends on to provide
Stabilization in my overwhelming world
Where acceptance is key…
I AM… a 43 year old woman who is experiencing Perimenopausal Symptoms.

Dear Dee,

It's time to let it go!
Yes, you are getting older and your body is changing. In fact, change is the only constant that this life will offer you.  What you have to remember is that your body plays a big role in your mental health. Don't spend your T.E.A. (time, energy and attention) worrying about the things that you can't change. Like you mentioned in your poem  accept that sh@# and move on. Stressing steals your blessings and girl you know you are blessed.  The way you react to life is going to be very important in this season. Take the time that is needed to Rest, Reset & Rejuvenate so you can Revolutionize your life.  Keep writing, working out & talking to your therapist, God gave you those gifts for this  season of your life.

Questions Worth Answering

1. What changes have you experienced in your body lately?
2. How did those changes affect your mental state?
3. What are your thoughts about therapy?
4. Will you be willing to talk to Dee about the changes you've been going through and how you've been coping? if so, sign up for a complimentary chat here!

This is so true. Why do women have to struggle so much in life?

This is so relevant and needed. As I get older It takes 3 times the effort to get fit. Most times I start out strong and then end up injuring myself. Was I pushing myself too hard or is my body telling me Just give it up ? 😩 Thank you for your message of inspiration!

Yes sis at the age of 56 my body is moving in all direction despite all the exercise I do the weight still won’t budge. Until I figure out it was the type of food I was eating and realized it was causing inflammation, as I incorporate more fruit and vegetables the weight is slowing coming off. So thank you and keep preaching and teaching. ❤️

Thank you for shedding light on this topic. When I first started going through menopause, I thought I was going crazy. I felt like the older women in family were taught to not discuss matters like this publicly, so they were no help. Younger women did not understand because they hadn’t experienced it, so they were no help. Consequently, I felt alone, like no one understood. It’s great to know that I’m not alone, and that there is support.
