Finding Joy in the Midst of Life's Challenges

Picture
Picture
Dear Abba,
How do you love while you're hurting?
Dream bigger while you're searching?
Be still while you're moving?
Live together, but separate?
Live in the now and accept the not yet?

These questions have guided my thoughts as I embark on a poetic journey. My emotions are spilling back onto the page, revealing truths I've kept hidden for too long. The scary part is knowing that my truth might hurt those who are involved. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with these revelations once they hit the page. They say the truth hurts and sets you free, but no one ever speaks about the truth-teller and the price of her delivery!
These are my stories, told for His Glory!
I feel like I'm coming undone.
Standing naked in the sun, light shining on my scars.
I was not meant to make it this far.

This pain was supposed to kill me, but thanks to my pen, I didn't die.

This journey isn't just about me.
It's about all of us who struggle with the complexities of life—those of us who are trying to love through pain, dream while searching, and find stillness in the midst of movement.
As I continue to write, I'm reminded that truth can be a source of healing, even when painful.
In these raw, honest moments, we find our deepest connections to ourselves and others. As I navigate this journey of truth-telling and healing, I realize that each of us has a story that deserves to be heard. Our scars, pain, and resilience are all part of a larger narrative that can inspire and uplift others.

Get Your S.H.I.T. Together: A Journey of Strength, Hope, Intentions & Tenacity.

Picture
There's something about those sleepless nights that brings clarity and conviction. Last night, I was wide awake, unable to silence the thoughts screaming in my mind. Instead of tossing and turning, I got up and wrote a prayer to God. As I poured out my feelings, God's voice became clear. I heard Him say, "Dee, you need to get your S.H.I.T. together." After being shocked by God's potty mouth, I told God I wanted to get my S.H.I.T. together, but I was struggling with my emotions. He told me to be still, and it was in the stillness of that moment that I realized that I was not alone in this.

We're all struggling with something—managing stress, staying focused, or fulfilling life and God's assignments. That's when it struck me: this isn't just my journey; it's a journey for all of us. We all need Strength, Hope, Intentions, and Tenacity if we're going to be strategically focused and genuinely attend to the things that matter in this season of our lives. And so, the 'Get Your S.H.I.T. Together' Campaign was born. With just two weeks before I return to work, I've decided that now is the perfect time to start. I'm on a mission to get my S.H.I.T. together, and I'm inviting you to join me on this journey. Let's do this together, supporting each other every step of the way.

Love,
Dee

Have you seen my reset button?" Entering inside the heart and mind of a creative beauty & beast! "

Picture
Don't blend in when you were created to stand out!

Sometimes, I wonder how God chooses the gifts and talents bestowed on us. Does He know who will use them fully and who will dig a hole in the ground and store them until the day He returns? Does any of that even matter to God? I know God is a God of covenant; when He gives, He doesn't take it back.

Being a passion-filled, creative woman, I find myself blessed with many gifts; I am a writer, poet, artist, and a passion-filled curator. I've always felt like God overpacked my backpack, and on days like today, when I feel overwhelmed by the call to be a runway for others to take off, I find myself retreating inside of myself. Only to rediscover the fact that there isn't any place I can go where God can't see me. With tears in my eyes and a weary soul, He receives my words and holds a space for me to empty myself.

Dear Abba,
There is a storm brewing inside of me. The waves are flowing, and I know my destiny is closer than I can see. My heart is open, and my exhausted soul yearns for more- more understanding, clarity, discernment, and guidance about the things You have in store for me and mine!!!  Cue song, "It is for me."

Dear Dee,
It is time to RESET your heart, body & soul.  You belong to me! Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart. (Jer 1:5) I know the plans I have for you. Who can take you or yours out of my hands? You are in this position for a time like this. FEAR not; you will be a runway for many in this season, but know I have not forgotten you, my child. BE strong and courageous, for I will show you my way in my time according to my will. I am building you up from within so you will never succumb to gravity again. You will rise above the things and people who hurt you, and your story will inspire the souls of many. Those ready to do the work will find you, and you will build your tribe. Stay alert, and don't be distracted in this season. Sit still and wait for me to show up in the quiet moments. I AM... your protection, power, and promise, and you will receive my grace that is sufficient for you if you don't give up in this season!!!

Love,
Abba.

  2. How does the gravity of your emotions impact your ability to look up and stay focused on your path? What strategies can you use to overcome this?
  3. In what ways can you open your heart and soul even more to the journey ahead?
  4. How do you balance trusting in God's plan with taking actionable steps towards your destiny?
  5. What messages or insights do you feel God is giving you at this moment? How can you incorporate these into your daily life?
  6. Reflect on a past storm in your life that you overcame. What did you learn from that experience, and how can it help you navigate your current storm?

From Pain Points to Joy Points: Finding Moments of Happiness in Everyday Life

Picture
Music Credit: When I Rose by Deborah Joy Winans
In my last blog, "Have You Seen My Joy," I shared my journey to rediscovering Joy amid life's pain points.
The response was affirming
and I decided to share this important realization: "We can all choose Joy!"

Choosing Joy during a pain point isn't easy, but we can do hard things through God, who promises to strengthen us. (Philippians 4:13) We must become very intentional people (V.I.P.) today because tomorrow isn't promised.

My Joy Points
My Joy can be found living on the pages of my Writer's Notebook, listening to music, dancing, reading a good book, traveling to new places, taking pictures, exercising, eating great food, hanging out with my loved ones, creating art or even just enjoying a quiet moment of solitude. These simple pleasures remind me that Joy belongs to me, but I must be intentional and take the time needed to engage with it.

A Question worth answering:
How can you find and be intentional about embracing your Joy Points?

Dee's Challenge: The Power of Sharing Joy
I challenge you to find and document at least one Joy Point this week.

Use the hashtag #MyJoyPoints on social media to share your moments of happiness.
At the end of the week, take some time to reflect on how this practice has affected your overall mood and outlook on life. I'm excited to see your progress and hear about your experiences!

We can curate a more joyful and fulfilling life by identifying and cherishing our joy points.
Remember, focusing on Joy over pain is a daily choice.

You get to choose so choose Joy!

I would love to hear about your Joy Points!
Please share them in the comments below or email me at [email protected].

Please share this blog with friends and family who might need extra Joy.
Your support and engagement mean the world to me, and I look forward to sharing more Joy with you.
